What is pre-habilitation?

Pre-habilitation addresses deficits in strength, stability, range of motion, balance and overall joint function. While it is common before surgery or procedure to enhance recovery, pre-habilitation can also be a proactive way to reduce the chance of injury during any activities you participate in. Pre-habilitation can include exercises for general strength and conditioning, sports performance or overall prevention of injury.

What are the benefits?

Pre-habilitation is preventative therapy. It can decrease the risk of injury, optimize functional ability and quality of life. When used before surgery, it is generally recommended to begin two months before surgery to allow the body enough time to have strength gains to best prepare for an operation.
